Dr. Elif Kemaloglu-Er has loved learning, teaching, doing research and writing all her life. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Translation and Interpreting at Adana Alparslan Turkes Science and Technology University (ATU). She has also worked as the Department Chair of ATU Translation and Interpreting and the General Coordinator of ATU International Relations Office.
She received her BA degree from Translation Studies at Bogazici University. She completed her MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at Bilkent University and she got her PhD degree in English Language Education at Bogazici University.
Elif Kemaloglu-Er has extensive experience as a professional translator and an instructor of English for Academic and Specific Purposes. Prior to ATU, she worked as an instructor of English (PhD) at Bogazici University School of Foreign Languages. She also worked as a part-time instructor at Bogazici University Foreign Languages Education Department and supervised the pre-service English teachers in their practicum experience. She worked as an English instructor for 20 years and she is now on her career path in the fields of English Language Teaching and Teacher Education, Applied Linguistics, English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), World Englishes (WE), and Global Englishes (GE) as a scholar & a lecturer with her recent and forthcoming courses, publications and projects. In addition to her English language teaching experience at various reputable institutions, she has also worked as a translator at well-known banks and companies like Yapı Kredi and Alarko and publishing houses like Kuraldışı and Caretta. She has also worked as an editor & writer of educational publications. She has several academic publications and presented her papers in multivariate national and international conferences. She takes great pleasure in analyzing human psychology, human relations, literary works and films as well as travelling and writes short stories.
